Hello and welcome to the web site of Blind Justice, The Law Office of John Edward Eagen. I have been a practicing trial attorney in the state of Florida for over 21 years, and practice in the areas of criminal defense, family law, general civil, and personal injury law. You may link to any or all of these practice areas and review video's and news features regarding my practice. To my knowledge, I am the only blind criminal defense attorney in Florida and also am licensed in the Northern District of Florida for federal cases. I once wrote my six word autobiography, which is as follows: My purpose is to find justice for those who cannot, no matter how difficult or challenging. I love what I do, and treat my clients with respect and I am willing to fight for them to the last and best of my ability. The choice of legal representation is a decision that you should make wisely and with much thought. You must be able to trust your attorney with your freedom and sometimes your life, whoever you choose, make sure they care more about your case than the money you are paying and make sure they love what they do. I promise if you choose me you will get nothing less.
After 21 years of representing clients in family and dependency cases throughout Florida, I can honestly say that nothing surprises me anymore. The most unusual case I can remember was a divorce case in Franklin County about 18 years ago. I was representing the wife in this case and was seeking an award of alimony. The parties had been married for 15 years and had no children. They had built up their savings together and established a family business. The husband had an adult daughter from a previous marriage who lived with them. Suffice to say the expense was disallowed and my client received alimony.
Personal Injury is probably the most emotional part of my practice since it is dealing with my client's loss or injury. I remember receiving a phone call one night around 4 am. On the other end of the phone was the mother of one of my dearest and closest friends. My friend had just died in a horrible car accident and her mother was distraught over the death of her child. I had to feel her pain and at the same time act in her and her daughter's best interest. I spoke to the media on behalf the family and successfully put across for them and the family, the deep loss of this very special woman.
Most of us know someone or have been that someone who has run into rough patches in our path in life. Sometimes we need the help of an experienced attorney to guide us and stand on our behalf. Most of us have been accused of something for which we are not responsible or may not even have participated in or may have done something but need someone to speak on our behalf to explain why. I have been a criminal defense attorney for 21 years and have walked that hard path with a lot of people. If you need someone to walk that path with you and fight on your behalf legally, contact our office.
